Standard capping machines are not always suited to handle large containers and oversized closures.

BellatRx developed the Magna Capper, an automatic inline capping machine, intended expressly for these larger formats. The system is capable of applying and torquing closures on containers at speeds of up to 60 containers per minute, supporting packaging lines that handle bigger bottles and higher torque requirements.

Closure and Container Range

Closure compatibility depends on the cap feeding configuration:

  • 22-120 mm closures with an elevator system
  • 15-63 mm closures with a bowl feeder

Container dimensions extend to:

  • Up to 8 in. wide or 8 in. in diameter
  • Up to 16 in. in height

Cap Handling and Torque Application

Caps enter the capping machine through a sorting elevator where they are accumulated, oriented, and transferred to the cap application station. Containers move into position through a bottle gating assembly that spaces them and secures each bottle during capping.

After the closure is set on the container, the bottle advances to a servo-driven torque station for final tightening before discharge from the machine.

Machine Construction and Operation

Construction of the Magna Capper inline capping machine includes stainless steel, anodized aluminum, and approved plastics. These materials are standard in packaging machine construction.

Safety guarding surrounds the system and includes interlocks that prevent access during operation. A touchscreen HMI provides operators with access to setup screens and machine controls directly from the interface.

The Magna Capper supports large closures and containers through automated cap feeding and precise torque control.

Format changes can be completed through repeatable setup adjustments that simplify transitions between container formats. Once configured, the Magna Capper maintains accurate closure placement and controlled torque throughout the run. Production data typically shows reject levels around 0.5 percent or lower, an outcome that reflects consistent threading and proper cap tightening across the line.
